Description

“We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in your hands to make a difference.”

~Nelson Mandela

Oxfam Scotland is hosting its first ever Campaigner Summit in Glasgow!

The Oxfam Scotland campaigns network is a growing movement of like-minded people across Scotland who share the same basic value - that we won’t live with poverty, and together we can end it.

Join us for a full day of interactive, engaging and fun workshops, training and talks, providing you with a deeper understanding of the work of Oxfam, along with insightful tools and techniques that will help you in your journey as a campaigner. No matter how much time you have to offer, and even if you’ve never thought of yourself as an activist before, you can get involved in campaigning with Oxfam in Scotland.

The Summit will include sessions on:

  • Harnessing social media for change

  • How to influence politicians

  • Understanding why and how Oxfam campaigns on inequality, the refugee crisis, and food and climate justice

  • Designing a campaign strategy to change the rules on refugee family reunion

We’ll also hear from the incredible campaigner Roza Salih, one of the original ‘Glasgow Girls’ who successfully campaigned against the detention and deportation of children. The story of Roza and her friends has been made into a film and a musical – and she’s still fighting for social justice every day.

This is also a unique opportunity for you to meet, connect with, and learn from fellow campaigners from across Scotland!

Tickets are free, and lunch and refreshments are included. Make sure you register as this will be a popular event!
