Talk 1: Grigore-Aristide Gafencu - Title TBC

Bio: With a background in clinical medicine, haematology, immunology, computational biology, and single-cell & bulk transcriptomics, Dr. Grigore-Aristide Gafencu holds a DPhil in Medical Sciences from the University of Oxford, where he led multi-cohort studies on haematopoietic stem cells and T cells using single-cell RNA-seq, developing custom analytical pipelines to uncover age-related transcriptomic changes. Currently a bioinformatician at Oxford Molecular Diagnostics Centre, Department of Oncology, University of Oxford, he has developed prognostic biomarkers using single cell and bulk multiomic data and machine learning, including a classifier algorithm that outperforms existing clinical scores in early-stage chronic lymphocytic leukaemia prognosis stratification. In his presentation to the Oxford Data Meetup, he’ll talk about the challenges and opportunities faced by analysts while processing single cell multiomic data.

Talk 2: Cal Mitchell - Title TBC:

Founder of SQLpipe, Cal has partnered with Stripe’s developer relations team to launch Remix, an open-source data streaming tool that helps data teams reduce costs, accelerate development, and prepare production-ready AI training datasets. Join us to learn how Remix can help your team stay competitive in the AI-driven future.

Following the talks, there will be a overview of the latest news in Data by Shaked and then we will all follow on to a local pub for continued conversations - all welcome.
