Oxford University’s Life and Mind Building

By Oxford Civic Society

Overview

A free talk for the Oxford Civic Society by Professor Chris Kennard

Opened in 2025, the Life and Mind Building was the largest building project ever undertaken by the University of Oxford. As the Senior Responsible Officer for its development, Professor Chris Kennard is the ideal person to describe it. His talk will cover the history of providing research and teaching space for two of University’s world-class departments, Biology and Experimental Psychology. Following the sudden closure of the Tinbergen building in 2017, he will outline the long journey undertaken by the academics, architects and builders, which led to the new Building, as well as some of the research carried out in it.
