What is the Oxford Youth Climate Summit?
Climate breakdown is a threat to all of us, and the people who will be forced to live with the worst effects are the young. But young people’s voices are often overlooked.
The summit is an online event for Oxford’s young people to be a part of the discussion about how the city tackles the climate emergency. The outcomes of the event will feed into Oxford City Council’s climate strategy.
It is also an opportunity for young people to hear about climate breakdown from some of the world’s leading experts and learn what they can do about it from some of the city’s most prominent figures.
The event will feature discussions lead by
- Linnet Drury, EJ Fawcett and other climate campaigners with Oxford Youth Strike
- Anneliese Dodds MP for Oxford East and Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer
- Nick Eyre Professor of Energy and Climate Policy at the Environmental Change Institute, Chief Scientific Advisor to Oxford City Council
- Cllr Tom Hayes Oxford City Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Zero Carbon Oxford
- Myles Allen Professor of Geosystem Science at University of Oxford. Coordinating Lead Author on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Special Report on 1.5 degrees
