Packed Lunches with the University of the Highlands and Islands
Thu 1 December 2016, 12:45 – 14:00 GMT
As a follow on from the ‘Business Lunches’ series we are holding a series of six lunchtime meetings over the next few months to bring together students and employers in the same room to chat through career and employability options. Each session will cover a different sector area so select the right date for you below.
At the events a speaker from a relevant employer will:
- give an overview of their sector - who they are and what they do and what they look for in applicants
- explain what career and employment prospects are available
- outline what they’d expect from new employees
- describe how graduates might prepare themselves for the world of full time work
To provide an alternative perspective, students will also participate, asking questions of the employer via a student lead from the same university subject area. Students will be allocated approximately 10 to 15 minutes to outline their points and as a guide questions could include:
- here are my skills - what can you do for me?
- this is who I am and why I’m studying this subject
- how can you help me achieve my career goals?
A facilitated discussion will follow allowing other sector attendees and students in the audience to join in.
Lunch will be provided allowing networking opportunities for all. Each event will also be available by video conference across the university network. To book a connection via video conference please email us.
All of the events will take place in Inverness College UHI, 1 Inverness Campus, Inverness at 12.45pm on the following dates. Each session will be finished by 2pm on the day.
