Paediatric Acute Nursing in Critical Care (PANiCC)

Paediatric critical care education teams across the South Thames network, Brighton and Sussex have come together to develop a paediatric acute nursing in critical care levels 1 and 2 module, accredited by the Paediatric Critical Care Society.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced paediatric nurses to develop their skills when caring for children who are acutely unwell and requiring critical care.

Course description

The course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to care for children requiring critical care levels 1 and 2.

The virtual classroom aims to provide an interactive learning environment to explore and critically analyse principles of critical care and care planning for critically unwell children as seen in the clinical setting.

This module will run over 5 months and will consist of 5 blocks. To ensure our learners feel confident in the delivery of level 1 and 2 critical care we will use a blended approach of:

• Live and pre-recorded webinars
• Virtual discussions, group work, and simulation
• Online activities
• Face-to-face skills and simulation training
• Self-study
• Assessment

Participants must successfully complete all aspects of the assessment to pass the course. The assessment includes, a formative reflective blog, a practice assessment document, and a summative presentation.

Accredited by the Paediatric Critical Care Society.
