QA Level 3 in Paediatric First Aid at Work (QCF)

The course is designed for Childminders, Nursery and School staff (dealing with Early Years Foundation Stage), and anybody who interacts with children and wants an in-depth course. The course is in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and meets the requirements of Ofsted.

Course Overview:

  • To gain a fully accredited Paediatric First Aid qualification
  • To become fully conversant in all First Aid requirements in the workplace
  • To become confident in the practice of First Aid
  • To comply with current employment legislation

Course Pre-requisites:

  • Non-qualified/expired First Aid qualification

Course Schedule:

  • Course duration is 12 hours, comprising 2 days of classroom theory & practical sessions

Syllabus Includes:

  • First Aid Priorities
  • Managing Incidents
  • Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (De-Fib)
  • Choking
  • Fractures
  • Control of Bleeding and Shock
  • Burns and Scalds
  • First Aid Kits
  • Childhood Illnesses including Meningitis and Febrile Convulsions
  • Regulations including recording and reporting

Assessment & certification:

The course takes place over twelve hours over 2 days and will include both theory and practical sessions.
Paediatric first aid certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment. There is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course will be deemed to have reached the required standard and will be awarded a certificate from the awarding body valid for three years, after which time you will need to renew your certification.
