**This seminar is open to chiropractors and chiropractic students in Year 3 and Year 4 only**

This five-day intensive programme will cover pregnancy, neonates, infants, toddlers, school-aged children, and adolescents. The programme includes theoretical classes, practical workshops and case-based learning in paediatric musculoskeletal health. The programme will cover history and physical examination, serious presentations, common MSK conditions, treatment options for MSK presentations including manual therapy and physical therapy, psychosocial considerations, and professional responsibilities.

 

Seminar Objectives:

  • To demonstrate competency in taking a history and performing an appropriate physical examination in all paediatric age groups.
  • To recognise normal and abnormal paediatric MSK presentations, generate differential diagnoses, create a management plan, implement safe and appropriate care, and refer as appropriate.
  • To identify safeguarding issues, legal and ethical principles of child health and act as appropriate.
  • To identify relevant public health issues, and safety and risk management procedures.

Speaker

Elisabeth Davidson MSc(Paeds), BSc(Chiro), DC, FRCC(Paeds) is a chiropractor and the owner of Inverurie Chiropractic Clinic. She graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in 1994 with a BSc (chiropractic) and a post graduate diploma in chiropractic (DC) in 1995. She gained an MSc in Advanced Chiropractic Paediatric Practice in 2007 also from the AECC and she is a Fellow and Director of Academic Affairs of the Royal College of Chiropractors' Faculty of Pregnancy and Paediatrics. Originally from Denmark, she has lived in Britain since 1990. Some key areas that Elisabeth is interested in are the treatment of pregnant women as well as chronic post-traumatic head pain and jaw problems. Elisabeth has worked closely with the local health care community for over 24 years. She is very busy teaching post-graduate seminars all over the UK, Ireland and Europe in chiropractic care of the pregnant pelvis, neonatal examination and treatment and growth & development of the toddler, and therefore only works a few hours a week in the clinic. In addition she and the clinic is currently involved in conducting research into pelvic girdle pain and treatment outcomes of chiropractic care of babies.

Aurélie Marchand is a chiropractor and the Course Lead of the MSc APP Paediatric MSK Health at AECC University College. She has been teaching in the paediatric MSK field for several years and has published several articles relating to the MSK health of paediatric patients in the chiropractic profession and published the first model of care in the chiropractic management of paediatric patients. Her areas of interest are paediatric clinical anatomy and paediatric manual therapy.

Course organisers reserve the right to make alterations to fees, arrangements and dates for teaching and learning sessions, including the decision to run all or parts of the course in the light of demand. In the event that the course is cancelled or re-scheduled by the course organiser, a full refund of fees will be given, but the college takes no responsibility for travel or accommodation expenses incurred by the delegate. 

If for any reason you are unable to attend the seminar please be aware that fees will be refunded, less a £10 administration charge, for all cancellations received at least 30 days before the event. Cancellations received after the 30 day period but 7 days prior to the seminar date will receive a 50% refund less the £10 administration charge. No refunds can be given after this time.
