About this event

This course is designed for health care professionals that have at least 2 years’ experience in looking after infants and children with a tracheostomy, whether this be in the hospital, in the home, or out in the community setting.

If you have all this specialist knowledge on Paediatric Tracheostomy care and have our passion to share this knowledge and teach more people to safely care for children with a tracheostomy. You will be preventing critical incidences and promoting a high standard of care, then this course is for you.

Clinical educators, doctors, nurses, community nurses or healthcare professionals welcome.

Please note that this course takes place on two cocurrent Tuesday's. The first Tueday (DAY 1) is a full study day, as seen in the agenda. The second Tuesday (DAY 2) is a half day assessment session taking place a week later.

Pre-course Requiremets

Prior to attending the course learners will be sent pre-course reading. This will be sent out to delegates by email in advance of the course start date. This must be completed ahead of the course in order to attend. A pre-course questionnaire will be completed as part of the booking process.

About the train the trainer course

The day will consist of refining your knowledge and specialists skills by completing practical skill stations taught by Paediatric ENT Clinical Nurse Specialists. We will then ask you to complete your first assessment by delivering a 20 minute practical teaching session to your peers where feedback will be given to each delegate.

About the half day assessment

We will ask you complete your second assessment, to teach a small group on one element of paediatric tracheostomy care. Discussions for reflections and feedback will be given. There is also an opportunity to ask your trainers questions too.
