About this event

Arts • Theatre

The superstar boss of parody tech firm Token AI has fallen foul of the law. Catapulted to fame when his magnificent automatic writing machine revolutionised the publishing industry, Danny Celeste soon became the darling of government policy makers – his daring new AI machine slashing through red tape - cutting backlogs, waiting lists and jobs with Silicon Valley abandon.

But has Danny gone too far? His writing machine has often attracted vocal resistance, but now he’s in the dock – his own invention now writing the rules, threatening his AI empire and his reputation.

This interactive comedy-drama explores the potential dangers of AI adoption in various creative, legal and bureaucratic settings. Members of the audience get to decide whether Danny becomes the ultimate victim of his own success, or if he’s given a lifeline from a very unlikely source.

This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 6 - 15 November 2025. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, with generous support from Research England, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
