About this event

Health • Medical

Attendees are invited to join Hive Cancer Support, Ulster University researchers, and Thrivers —those with lived experience of cancer surgery —for a unique community walk from North West Regional College to the vibrant mural on Strand Road.

Along the walk, participants will engage in meaningful conversations about the mental health impacts of cancer surgical procedures, learn about the findings of our new community-based research, and see how personal stories are expressed through urban street art.

A special focus will be given to male mental health in support of November’s Male Cancer Awareness Month, making this an open and supportive space for sharing and learning.

This event is for students (especially those studying health and social care), lecturers, cancer thrivers, and researchers involved in the research.

Please meet at the North West Regional College Reception, where the event leader will greet you.

Wear comfortable walking shoes and carry an umbrella or raincoat in case it rains. The tour will be on flat terrain.

Led by Hive Cancer Support staff and Board of Directors, Hive Cancer Support members, West Regional College staff and HSC Psychology Dept, Dial.

Ulster University – Dr Claire McCauley and Dr Carrie Flanagan and Donal O Doherty, Peaball Street Artist
