Event description

Description

We can all feel overwhelmed and anxious at times, and in those moments it’s all too easy for us to respond harshly, chase perfectionism, or keep how we’re feeling bottled up. Imagine how differently you would feel if at those times you treated yourself with kindness and care instead? Embraced your imperfections? And offered yourself the time to express and process how you’re really feeling?

What if, you could practise this whilst creating beautifully expressive pieces for your home? Gifts for friends and family? Or simply as a relaxing and enjoyable exercise just for yourself?

We’ll show you how with this painting for self-kindness and relaxation workshop.

Throughout this 3-hour workshop you’ll uncover:

  • Why openness & treating yourself with more kindness is important for living your life in the way that you want to.

  • How to use creative activities as a starting point or to further practise self-compassion & self-care, so that you’ll feel more confident handling life’s challenges.

  • How to mindfully experience and reflect on your emotions, thoughts & feelings, accepting them for what they are with kindness rather than criticism.

  • How to quietly express yourself, increase your awareness & even help shift your own perspectives to see yourself in a different light.

As we’ll be focusing on self-expression rather than technical skill, this workshop is suitable and beneficial to all, whether you have never picked up a paintbrush in your life, or have many years of painting experience behind you.

THIS IS A PRE-FUNDED WORKSHOP AND IS FREE TO ATTEND. Spaces are limited so please reserve your place now. Donations are always welcome to help support the work of Quiet Connections.

This workshop is part of a number of events being held at the Museum of Cornish Life throughout May for the 'I was, I am, I will be' Exhibition to explore our mental health and help raise awareness.

If painting isn't your thing, why not try our weaving workshop instead?

Who will you meet?

Your workshop facilitators will be Stacie and Julie.

Stacie knows what it’s like to feel anxious in social situations and as though she wasn’t good enough; keeping how she was feeling quiet and hidden away. Creative expression was a starting point for Stacie to begin exploring who she was and how she felt, and continues to use it on an almost daily basis to help maintain and manage anxious feelings.

Julie is one of our Quieteers, who frequently attends our community groups. Through stretching her own comfort zone, Julie has delivered creative workshops for our groups around Cornwall and also uses creative activities personally for processing her thoughts and feelings.

I would like to come, but I feel anxious about meeting new people...

That's okay, we know how this feels too. Please contact Stacie at stacie@quietconnections.co.uk for a chat beforehand to help ease any anxious feelings. We can also connect you with another like-minded individual who is attending.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please contact Stacie for information at stacie@quietconnections.co.uk
