Paired Writing
This training is designed to introduce Paired Writing as a structured, evidence-based intervention to support and develop writing skills in children of all ages.
It is a particularly helpful intervention for those who are less willing to write, less confident writers or children who find the process particularly overwhelming.
As a collaborative process, it encourages oral rehearsal, the development of metacognitive skills and meaningful peer interactions.
The training will highlight:
- some of the theory underpinning paired writing
- explain how it can be practically implemented
- provide opportunities to understand what the different stages of the writing process will look like
You will be supported to develop your understanding of scaffolding techniques and strategies to support writing through effective dialogue within the classroom.
This session is available to all school staff but is likely to be most useful to members of staff who will utilise this approach most e.g. Teachers, Teaching Assistants or intervention teachers.
Cost of this course includes:
- Spaces for up to two members of staff from the same school
- One follow up session to support implementation (online)*
*This could be for troubleshooting and/or action planning depending on the needs of the school.
Please note this course is for staff members who work in West Northamptonshire settings only.
