Cornwall Hospice Care are running a series of face-to-face training sessions on Palliative Care Emergencies. This course addresses recognition, assessment and management of palliative care emergencies. It is aimed at all health and social care staff caring for people in the last years of life.

The 3 hour training session objectives are:-

  • Identify and differentiate between medical and non-medical emergencies that can occur in Palliative Care.​
  • Exploring the signs and symptoms that indicate that a Palliative Care Emergency may be developing.
  • Examining the management and treatment options.

The session will cover:-

  • Superior Vena Cava Obstruction (SVCO)​
  • Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression (MSCC)​
  • Hypercalcaemia​
  • Haemorrhage
  • Neutropaenic Sepsis

A certificate will be awarded upon completion of the session.
