Pandemic Productivity: Balance 'Doing More' with Maintaining Well-Being
Event Information
About this Event
Continuing a series of bi-weekly leadership seminars, this one takes a dive into what's happened to our thinking around productivity over this past year and how we can re-set for 2021.
If the last year has taught us anything it's that there's a flow to things that we can resist or we can allow. That we need to make time and space to let ourselves and others feel how they feel - and that the way we feel goes up and goes down - that there is perhaps more of a 'flow' than we have previously been aware of.
This sense of 'allowing' can seem to run counter to the urge for drive and ambition that seems to be the hallmark of personal productivity literature. We know there's something to that sense of drive - no-one wants to sit around doing nothing... And, yet, we also know - and I've seen it increasingly this past year - that all that drive can be counter-productive for our well-being.
How do we do both though? How do we create and keep a sense of achievement, and how do we simultaneously take care of ourselves and others? What is the 'right' amount of push? And how do we navigate both a sense of getting things done and actually getting things done?
How do we know how we're doing?
In this live, interactive, seminar, I want to take a look at what productivity and achievement mean, how we know we're on the 'right' track to get things done and how we combat the biggest myth around personal productivity - something that has hit home recently for many of my clients. I also want this to be practical for you and we will help you find the measures that are important for you - both the tangibles of 'doing' and the intangibles against which we more often judge ourselves.
Yes, we are in uncertain times, but why not use that to anchor yourself in what's important, both personally and professionally, and learn how to find well-being alongside drive and ambition when it feels like drive and ambition are the only things that keep us achieving.
If you're in a leadership position then you also have a responsibility to staff and colleagues and you might be asking yourself how do we motivate others and what's really important for them when it comes to productivity? Do we need to nurture or push? How do we motivate and what happens when we slack off?
This is for you if you're in any kind of leadership role, in a corporate role, a business, a non-profit, a government department, or as a volunteer; or you are in transition, perhaps completing a post-graduate leadership or MBA programme (with experience behind you).
You are curious and want to explore what it means to be a leader, especially right now when we have an unprecedented opportunity to do things differently.
You want to do leadership, not just talk about it, and these sessions are the perfect place to come as you are, with no expectations, no 'scorecard', and practice what we are learning so that you can take the pieces you want and apply back at 'the office'.
While the event has a clear agenda and set of activities, the topic is a way of entering a discussion, rather than constraining it, and the direction will be guided by the questions you bring, and the issues and challenges you are facing right now.
This event is part of a series that will be released soon, so please follow here if you want to continue to develop your understanding of personal and professional leadership or if you can't make this particular time but want to attend future events.
FAQs
What happens after I register?
You will receive an email with a zoom link for joining the online seminar.
I can't attend that specific time, are the events recorded?
I'm afraid not. The series is an opportunity for exploration in real time with other leaders, facilitated by a professional coach. It isn't a 'teaching' lecture and, while there may be some context setting for each event, there is very little content beyond what the participants bring.
Can I invite other people?
Yes, please do! If you find the format helpful and interesting then you might want to continue with a similar 'reflective space' inside your own organisation beyond the series.
I'm not in the UK, can I attend?
Yes! The events are online, on zoom, and you can attend from anywhere in the world. Please note that the times are in GMT and take care to check the conversion to your local time as not all parts of the world move to daylight saving at the same time (or in the same direction, or even at all!).
