Reasons to be cheerful about education
Reading the news headlines, you would be hard pressed to find much that is positive about UK education. Schools are facing real-terms budget cuts, almost half of teachers say they are planning to quit over the next five years, and 82 percent have described their workload as "unmanageable".
These are issues that we need to find urgent situations to. But, as Christmas approaches, let’s leave aside the doom-and-gloom momentarily.
Innovate My School and BESA invite you to have a glass of wine and engage with a panel of speakers who will celebrate the positive aspects of the profession, and discuss what there is to look forward to in 2017.
Come and discuss what it is that makes teaching great, despite gripes about bureaucracy and workload. What aspects of teaching never fail to put a smile on your face? Who were your most inspirational teachers? What innovations are taking place in the classroom that are transforming teaching? How can the status of teaching be raised to ensure that it, rightly, stands proudly alongside the other professions?
Join us with a glass (more than) half full in raising a toast to this vital profession, and sharing your reasons to be cheerful about education.
