Panel Discussion: Influencer Marketing Today
Event Information
About this Event
Influencer marketing has exploded onto the scene in recent years, with brands seeking celebrity influencers and increasingly nano-influencers to reach selective audiences. It’s one of the fastest-growing forms of advertising and a focus for creative practice, but also faces criticism for malign influence and widespread flouting of rules on labelling and disclosure.
This session will provide an expert snapshot of what is happening, how influencer marketing (IM) is developing, the prospects and opportunities for those wishing to join the marketing and media industries involved, and some of the key issues and controversies to be addressed.
Join our live panel discussion over Zoom to explore insights from speakers including:
Dr Sevil Yesiloglu, who will be discussing her new book, Influencer Marketing which outlines how IM is developing, and will explore key questions and findings from this major research and writing project.
IM consultant Scott Guthrie, who advises brands, influencers and agencies, judges UK and international IM awards, and is a co-author of industry codes and guidelines. Scott will discuss best practice in IM and how it's developing, including the growth of Artificial intelligence influencers.
Professor Jonathan Hardy will discuss the pressures on the industry arising from increasing public concerns scrutiny, and will consider how well the industry and regulators are responding.
