We have assembled the UK’s top academics, relationship experts, vloggers and social media influencers, for a panel discussion on Black Dating

 


 

Event Hosts

AfriClick are creating a Social Discovery App for professionals & creatives of African & Caribbean heritage. We are an authority on black dating, not just the fun bits but also the socio-political aspects that affect the Black British community.

Esther Alade Esther Alade is a seasoned TV personality and Presenter with over 10 years experience in the entertainment industry

University College London BME Network’s goal is to empower and enable BME students.

Emma Dabiri

  • Emma Dabiri is an Irish-Nigerian social historian, completing her PhD at Goldsmiths University and a teaching fellow at The School of Oriental African Studies
  • She has been published in a number of academic journals, as well as The Guardian, Grazia, i-D Magazine, The Telegraph etc.
  • Emma Dabiri presented the 2017 Channel 4 documentary “Is Love Racist? The Dating Game” which explores racism in modern dating and regularly appears on television and radio
  • Her first book, A History of Hair, will be published by Allen Lane in 2018

 Shadey Bangs

  • Sade is a British-Nigerian social media influencer and prominent vlogger
  • Her YouTube channel has gained over 3 million views
  • Sade is known for her fearless, funny and at times controversial vlogs on dating, beauty, hot topics and fashion

 GoGo

  • Gogo is a top social media commentator and photographer
  • He is a prominent cast member of the widely received YouTube show, Bk Chat

 Ayo Davies

  • Ayo is a husband, father, singer-songwriter and one-half of the British-Nigerian vlogging couple Ope and Ayo Davies
  • Their YouTube channel has amassed almost 500,000 views
  • As a couple they love God, love music and enjoy each other's company. Their mission is to encourage couples to enjoy their relationships

 Natalie Lue

  • Natalie is a relationship coach, writer and podcaster
  • Her site Baggage Reclaim gives no-nonsense advice on taking responsibility for behaviour, building emotional maturity and learning how to recognize (and end) toxic relationships

The event content is targeted towards the millennial demographic. However it is a fully inclusive event and all are welcome.

FAQs

If I have a ticket, is my place guaranteed?

For ticketholders, admission is on a first-come-first-served basis. AfriClick’s last event was oversubscribed, so please ensure you arrive on time to avoid disappointment. After the panel starts, waitlisters will be offered entry.

I’m on the waitlist, what should I do?

As cancellations occur, Eventbrite will automatically release a ticket to your email. If you do not get a ticket, you may attend the venue as a waitlister. After 18:20, waitlisters will be offered entry.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is not essential but bringing your printed ticket will speed up entry.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The minimum age is 18, ID is not required. 

What can I bring into the event?

The venue prohibits food and drink bought outside.
