Panel Discussion | Tactile Memory – The Revival of Analogue Filmmaking
Date and time
We're inviting film enthusiasts to celebrate the art of analogue film!
About this event
Leiden European City Of Science, the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision and Leiden Shorts Film Festival are inviting film enthusiasts to celebrate the art of analogue film by joining the event: Tactile Memory – The Revival of Analogue Filmmaking on Saturday 11 June 2022.
Join us for a lively panel discussion between filmmakers – from the Leiden Shorts film festival selection – and archivists where they’ll take a deep dive into the practice of working with analogue film in our current digital era. Our panellists will discuss their experiences and creative choices, and we’ll connect those to a broader trend of the revival of analogue film in the last few years. We will round off the day with drinks and the room to reflect on analogue film with creators whose work is part of the festival.
Moderator
Asli Özgen-Havekotte (Assistant Professor of Media and Culture at UvA)
Panelists
Luciënne Venner (Director Silent Heat)
Thanasis Trouboukis (Director Under the Lake)
Wytze Koppelman (Conservator Cultuur & Entertainment at Sound & Vision)
The event consists of two sessions that can either be joined separately or together for the total experience. You can find more information about the first part of the event here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/preview?eid=343004424467/
After the panel we will round off the day with drinks and the room to reflect on analogue film with creators whose work is part of the festival.
