Description

Panel discussion: The Datafication of Primary and Early Years Education

Alice Bradbury, Guy Roberts-Holmes, Stephen Ball, Peter Moss

Joint DLL and EPS seminar

Abstract: In this seminar a panel of speakers, including Professor Stephen Ball and Professor Peter Moss, will engage with issues that sit at the core of Alice Bradbury and Guy Roberts-Holmes’ (IOE) new book The Datafication of Primary and Early Years Education. Speakers will explore the growing dominance of data in schools and early childhood education settings, and consider the shifts in practice and priorities towards the production and analysis of attainment data that are compared locally, nationally and internationally. Drawing on case studies from primary schools and early years settings, Alice Bradbury and Guy Roberts-Holmes will discuss the role and impact of digital data in the ‘data-obsessed’ school, where data have become an important part of making teachers’ work visible. The seminar will be followed by a reception for the launch of Bradbury and Roberts-Holmes’ new book, which seminar participants are invited to attend.
