Book Description:

Dealing with the complex and discomforting ‘grey ‘area where sex, love and money collide, this book analyzes the ways in which intimacy and commerce intersect in the everyday lives of “professional girlfriends” employed at tourist bars in Cambodia. In doing so, it draws attention to the general materiality of everyday sex that takes place in all relationships. Fresh with new theoretical frameworks and riveting stories, the book sheds new light on gender, desire, and power and the ways in which they are embedded in globalized and commodified relationships in Cambodia and beyond.
