Actions and Detail Panel
Papworth Patient, Public & Staff Congenital Heart Disease Event
Sat 25 March 2017, 10:00 – 12:00 GMT
NHS England published a set of proposals regarding the future commissioning of congenital heart disease (CHD) services for children and adults in July 2016. They describe the actions which are proposed to ensure consistent standards of care for CHD patients across the country both now and in the future.
The proposal is to implement National Service Standards at every hospital that provides CHD services. The effect of our proposals, if implemented, will be that some hospitals will carry out more CHD surgery and catheter procedures, while others, which do not meet the relevant standards, will stop doing this work.
The aim of this public consultation is to provide you with information about the proposals, and the potential impact they may have, if implemented, on the delivery of services, and to seek your views about the plans.
We would like to invite you to an event at Papworth Hospital for patients, carers, members of the public more widely and NHS staff who would like to find out more about the proposals and how it may affect the care of patients with CHD in the East of England.
The event will be held at Papworth Hospital on Saturday 25th March between 10:00 and 12:00. There will be an opportunity to hear from the NHS England CHD team with a question and answer session on the proposals. There will also be an opportunity to hear about planned developments for a CHD Network across East Anglia and the ongoing move of Papworth Hospital to the Biomedical Campus in Cambridge in April 2018.
Due to capacity constraints, we would ask that patients are only accompanied by one carer.
Parking is available on the Papworth Hospital site. The event will be held in the Lecture Theatre located in the Varrier Jones Building.
