Description

Free to attend parent conference for both Primary and Secondary aged children to help parents gain a better understanding of their child's learning and the education system in general. This conference will give your child an educational advantage and empower you to co-educate your child.

Keynote Speakers

There will be specialist speakers including Dr Cheron Byfield, Dr Trevor Adams, Mr Martyn Blunt and Cambridge University representative.

Teacher Presentations

Informative presentations for parents to understand the education system.

Parent Workshops

There will be workshops for parents to gain a better understanding of their child’s learning. The workshop’s to choose from include:

Reading for Meaning:

This workshop enables you to explore a range of qualities to develop, higher order thinking skills when listening to your child.

Demistification:

Is your child Y2 SATs ready? Our workshop led by experienced Y2 teachers will give you an opportunity to have a go at a Y2 SATs paper so you can support your child in reading.

Home; The Extended Classtoom:

TV and Mobile Phones often get in the way of taking time to talk with your child. This workshop explores your, gradiated questions you could ask your child when at home or on the move.

Fruitful Character:

This workshop explores the positive attitude and behaviour of the Primary Phase values. It supports parents as co-educators to work with the school in the development of your childs character.

Maths Workshop:

Hands on demonstration of some of the key Maths and English skills tought at McConnell’s maths.

Understanding Teenagers and Challenging Behaviour:

Parents who have strong connections with their teens really do have influence on their teens behaviour and aspirations. A postive parenting style works best, parents will be equipped with strategies to effectively support their child both emotionally and educationally.

Secondary Workshops:

Head Start - Navigating your way successfully through secondary education:

An informative workshop to support parents through the plethora of educational jargon and principles that they will probably have heard of but never really understood along with handy tips and good habits to instill into your child from the outset of their secondary educational journey.

Keeping your Child Safe and within the law online:

A thought provoking session aimed at helping parents to steer their children through some of the pitfalls of the cyber space whilst also being able to engage confidently and safely in our brave new digital world.

Building Resilience and Character in our children:

An interactive workshop aimed at sharing some practical tips on how parents can encourage and support their child to be the best version of themselves, prepared for a life in the global economy.
