Event description

Description

How confident do you feel in talking to your child about online grooming?

Breck Bednar was a 14-year-old English boy who was groomed and then murdered by 18-year-old Lewis Daynes. Breck knew Lewis only through online gaming and had never met him in person until he was coerced to visit Lewis's flat in Grays, Essex. Breck's mother, Lorin Lafave, has worked alongside a number of police forces across the UK, including Essex Police, to produce a short video raising awareness to the risks of grooming online - Breck's Last Game.

This session explores how to talk with your child about online grooming and supports you to utilise the Breck's Last Game as an educational resource and tool for aiding further conversations with teenagers. It will explain what grooming is, how it works and how to spot the signs, tips for protecting your child and where you can go if you have concerns.

Delivered by Essex Youth Service who work directly with young people, schools and the community.
