About this event
Nutrition plays a crucial role in supporting wellbeing during pregnancy. This provides parents-to-be with a great opportunity - to maximise both their own wellbeing and baby’s wellbeing. Eating a balanced and nutritious diet is important for a healthy pregnancy and can also help to prevent complications. It fuels this amazing process that your body is doing. This workshop for parents-to-be will provide key messages on nutrition in pregnancy and will create a platform for parents-to-be to share their thoughts, worries and ideas with others.
We recognise that there can be unhelpful messages which create and perpetuate feelings of guilt in pregnant and new parents, and this is not the aim of this workshop. We also recognise that guidance given to pregnant and new parents is everchanging and this can feel confusing and overwhelming. This workshop will provide up to date advice and guidance in a way which acknowledges the challenges around nutrition you may or may not be experiencing. This is about giving information and choices to empower parents-to-be to make decisions about nutrition for both them and their unborn children.
This workshop will cover:
- Key research on the importance of nutrition
- Supplements to take during pregnancy
- What you can and can’t eat during pregnancy (dispelling common myths!)
- Extra precautions to take around food and food preparation during pregnancy
- Concerns about food, weight and pregnancy-related symptoms
- The link between food and mood
- Understanding food labels and easy swaps
- Quick wins and key tips for eating well during pregnancy
- Resources and signposting to further support
