Join Patagonia Dublin, Galz Gone Wild, and Patagonia Ambassador Zoe Hart's family for a kid friendly hike in Glendalough, Co Wicklow. Meet at Glendalough Upper Lake Car Park by 10am for a hike brief delivered by Galz Gone Wild Founder, Mel and Zoe Hart before heading into the beautiful Vale of Glendalough for a kid friendly hike.


This 6km hike will be led at a party pace with 300m of ascent. The route is suitable for those around 8 years of age and above but also parents/caregivers who are babywearing/carrying their babies for the entirety of the route. Whilst this hike is not suitable for little legs, there is a 1km buggy friendly option. Appropriate footwear and clothing is a must, along with sharable snacks!


There's plenty of parking at the meeting spot, plus toilets, a changing room, and picnic spot at the start-end point.

The Plan

10:00am - Introductions and hike brief delivered by Zoe Hart, and Mel McDermott of Galz Gone Wild.

10:30am - Head out on hike up the Vale of Glendalough with stops to enjoy the view and snacks along the way.

01:30pm - Return to Upper Lake Car Park for debrief and picnic

This is a ticketed event with proceeds going towards local Dublin area environmental NGOs.

Frequently asked questions

What to expect on the hike?

The guided hike will be led at a group pace and is 6km long. This can take 2 - 3 hours so be prepared to go on an adventure, bring snacks and layers for the weather. Unfortunately, the terrain is not buggy or wheelchair friendly.

How to get there?

Public transport to Glendalough is very limited. We'd advise driving and car sharing as much as possible. Parking is charged at around 5 Euro for the day.

Who is Zoe Hart?

Zoe Hart is a long time friend of Patagonia and the fourth American woman to earn her International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations status.Zoe’s passion lies in storytelling, writing, and sharing her wild family adventures with hopes that all of her various hats lead to one common end.

Who are Galz Gone Wild?

GALZGONEWILD reconnects women with nature and the outdoors through their hikes, adventures, getaways, workshops and events all across Ireland. Their mission is to continue to create an equitable, inclusive, and diverse outdoor community.
