About the Parenting Support Programme

You are invited to join our Parenting Support Group, an eight-week training and support programme, which has been established for parents/carers of children with disabilities and additional needs.

The Programme starts on 6th May 2021 from 9.30am - 12pm, ending Thursday 1st July (with a week off for Easter on 3rd June). It will be held in Covid-safe conditions at the Acton Gardens Community Centre, LONDON. W3 8UU.

Our group will be lead will by Samia Nelson, a skilled and empathic Transactional Analyst Psychotherapist, who has a wealth of experience in delivering this programme in other parts of London.

Samia focuses on developing resilience within families and positive mental health for parents/carers and their children.Themes include managing emotions; supporting behaviour; personal power; implementing boundaries; working with anger; nurturing ourselves; and accessing services and support.

The course provides an opportunity for parents/carers to build friendships and support networks as we share and learn from one another's experiences - acknowledging our challenges and recognizing what we do.

Week 7: Signposting to external agencies / What remains?

Week 8: Celebrate our parenting / Reflections

Joining Details:

The programme will be delivered under socially distanced conditions at our centre in Acton, but will move online if necessary. If so, we will provide a laptop and broadband to any family that would be unable to participate otherwise.

Dates: Thursday 21 of January to Thursday 18 March 2021 (half term 18 Feb)

Self-Selected Fees: we suggest £40/ £80 /£160 for the entire 8 week parenting programme. However, we recognise that some families are under immense financial stress at the moment, so no one will be turned away due to financial reasons.
