ABOUT THE TALK:

Uncertainty and Upheaval - Strategies for Coping Better during Periods of Challenge in our Lives - Shane Martin

We cannot avoid stress. Indeed, we need to feel the ‘pinch’ of pressure in order to prepare for challenges and achieve our goals. No one can live life without encountering periods of uncertainly and upheaval. Our best plans do not always work out. Our greatest friends can let us down. We can work hard for an exam and receive a disappointing grade.

It is important to learn how to become more resilient - especially in current climate of an ongoing pandemic.

Resilience is the ability to adapt to the challenges of school and life. It’s about bouncing back rather than falling apart. Resilient people can thrive despite adversity, defy the odds and achieve positive outcomes despite misfortunes and setbacks.

This talk will highlight evidence-based strategies linked to better outcomes during periods of challenges. Parents can cultivate these strategies within the home and encourage their children to be more resilient into the future.

ABOUT THE FUNDER:

This project is kindly funded by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council through funding provided by 'The Executive Office' (TEO) under the 'Together: Building a United Community' (T:BUC) Strategy

Please note that all participants will be asked to complete an event evaluation on behalf of the funder. Funding is linked to Community Relations outcomes so some questions will relate to your community background.
