Event speakers

Nicola Morgan is an international speaker and award-winning author for and about teenagers and an expert on adolescence, stress and wellbeing, including the effects of the Internet and social media and the science of reading for pleasure and wellbeing.

A former teacher and dyslexia specialist, Nicola now writes and speaks internationally on a wide variety of subjects relating from adolescence to the Internet.

She has written nearly 100 books, including award-winning novels but she has become increasingly well known for her passionate factual work on adolescence and wellbeing. Her 2005 book on the teenage brain, ‘Blame My Brain’, was shortlisted for the Aventis prize and ‘The Teenage Guide to Stress’ won the School Library Association award in both the readers’ and the judges’ categories. Nicola will be speaking on Teenage Stress, Wellbeing and Life Online"

Michele Oatridge is a dietitian at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust registered with the Health and Care Professional Council. Following an undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Health, Michele completed a postgraduate certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics and is currently practising in the community working with both adult and paediatric clients. Michele has devised and coordinates body image workshops for children aged 10 – 17. She will be speaking on the principles of healthy eating during adolescence and common eating behaviours during this period including topics such as vegetarianism and extreme eating disorders.

Richard Vince runs a Martial Arts Academy with its HQ in Norwich and satellite locations around Norfolk. He represented England at 17 international events, being part of the team that won the European Championship in 1984 and individually winning the British, European and World Superheavyweight Professional titles before retiring in 1994. He has been involved with many anti-bullying projects, written a book called ‘Nobody Picks On Me Now’ and has worked in the pupil support department in new Eccles Hall School. In his pupil support and martial art training he coaches young people to take responsibility for their success through advice and encouragement and will be speaking on the subject of how parents can support their children to develop resilience in their work and exam preparation.
