Description

Free Parents/Carers event:

- for for parents/carers of young disabled people facing "Transitions"

- for disabled parents whose children are aged up to 30

Come along and meet organisations that can help your family, including at times of transition - from school, college, social care, housing, and so on.


*You are welcome to drop into this event at a time that suits you, but please register in advance.


Workshops at set times throughout the day.

e.g. Independent Living Fund Scotland; Self-Directed Support; GCC Education; Welfare Rights; First Aid; Skills Development Scotland; Relaxation Zone; Scottish Social Security Agency; Home Energy Scotland; and more.

• Lots of info stalls available all day.

• Take time out and get the support you need.

• Be inspired by GDA’s young members.

• Free, with lunch and refreshments provided.

• Venue is accessible and will be confirmed when you book your place.


We may be able to support with childcare and/or transport.




Further information

Venue: The event will take place at the Doubletree by Hilton, 36 Cambridge Street, Glasgow. The event will run from 10am - 3.30pm and will be held in the Ballroom area, with breakout spaces for workshops.

Access: This venue has level access at the main door and the event takes place all on this level. There are accessible toilets and there will also be a bedroom with larger accessible toilet/wetroom and a portable hoist. We will have some general personal assistants available on the day to help everyone. If you have given us a note of any other particular access requirements we will be in touch to confirm these.

Parking: There is an underground car park at the hotel (lift access to hotel from the underground car park) and an NCP car park right next door. Please note that both of these require payment.

Workshops: There will be a variety of workshops running throughout the day and a timetable for these will be available when you arrive. We will do our best to allocate people who can only attend for part of the day into their preferred workshops.

Stalls and discussion groups: these will run throughout the day and there should be an opportunity to join in as many discussions as you wish.

Lunch and refreshments: we will be providing refreshments and lunch during the event and have noted any dietary requirements.

Any other support - If you have any other support requirements, or would like any further information, please contact us as soon as possible so we can do our best to help.
