Partnering with patients: using co-production and involvement to drive better outcomes

About this event

Patient involvement is often seen in one of two ways; either working closely and deeply with patients to co-design a service, or asking a simple “how did we do?”

However, these are just two ends of a spectrum, with lots of fertile ground in between.

This Co-production workshop is for health and care professionals who are delivering work in neighbourhoods and communities interested in driving better outcomes by working with, not just for patients

By taking part in this session, you will:

● Understand the scale of participation - from experience to involvement.

● Discover why participation matters - the impact that can be achieved by genuinely

involving patients.

● Learn about examples of co-production from within and outside of the primary care sector.

● Explore and begin to apply different modes of participation in your organisation and area of work.

This participatory session will involve a mixture of presentation from the New Citizenship Project team, independent reflection and breakout discussions.

The workshop is being run by New Citizenship Project, a pioneering strategy, innovation and participation consultancy. Working across sectors, New Citizenship Project supports organisations of all kinds to embrace what they call the ‘Citizen Shift’ - a shift in the dominant

story of the individual in society from Consumer to Citizen.

As both theorists and practitioners, their approach is underpinned by research in social psychology, animal behaviour, history and sociology, and aims to improve outcomes at both the organisational and societal level.

In the health sector, New Citizenship Project’s work has contributed to the development of the NHS Networked Care Toolkit as well as new hospital strategies co-created with patients and staff.

Joining Instructions including a Zoom link will be sent to attendee's 1 week prior to event - Please check your Junk/Spam folders.
