Event description
Join us for a discussion with regional MPs as we explore partnerships for climate action across Yorkshire and the Humber.

About this Event

In light of a new set of measures to 'level-up' the North, there is a need to ensure that regional development aligns with the UK government's campaigns ahead of COP26 to strengthen societal resilience to climate change and reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. People and place are at the heart of this transition.

Join us for an online discussion with regional MPs as we address opportunities for partnerships on climate action and implementing the COP26 agenda in Yorkshire and the Humber. Discussions will consider the role of individuals, businesses and the University in delivering a resilient, net-zero transition. Following the announcement that the new infrastructure bank will be based in Leeds, we will discuss how to achieve sustainable, post-COVID recovery in the North whilst considering local environmental issues.

The event will invite questions from the audience, providing an opportunity to engage with regional MPs, as we work towards a transparent and inclusive partnership for tackling climate change.

Participating regional representatives

  • Hilary Benn, MP for Leeds Central
  • Olivia Blake, MP for Sheffield Hallam
  • Holly Lynch, MP for Halifax
  • Rachael Maskell, MP for York Central
  • Alex Sobel, MP for Leeds Northwest
  • Craig Whittaker, MP for Calder Valley
