Event description

Description

Norfolk’s history will come alive over the next two years with the work of the Paston Footprints Project founded by the UEA and Paston Heritage Society. The project group will need enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers to help them to make the events as unique and extraordinary as the letters themselves…

The Paston Footprints Project aims to uncover and to make accessible more of the remarkable story of Norfolk’s Paston Family and their world famous letters. The recently discovered Paston letters reveal what life might have been like for the affluent Paston family and generally for men and women in Norfolk back in the 15th Century. The Footprints project hopes to link the information in the Paston Letters with 10 key communities still in Norfolk today; Paston, Bacton, North Walsham, Gresham and Mannington, Oxnead, Blofield, Caister and Mautby, Hellesdon, Dereham and Norwich.

To introduce interested locals to this project and the volunteering opportunitys available, the Paston Society with the assistance of Broadland District Council will be holding an event at Aylsham Heritage Centre on Wednesday 20th September 2017, 4pm – 6pm. There will be a short talk about the project at 4.30pm. Members of the project group will be available at the event to give information about the project and how people can get involved throughout the event.

You will also be able to explore the Aylsham Heritage Centre's many displays and information about Aylsham & the surrounding area.

No need to book, this is a drop in event!
