Pollok House have partnered with Remade Network to present Patched with Gold Kintsugi-style workshop!

Do you want to learn how to fix your broken ceramics? Do you have a broken mug you can't bear to part with? What about a precious plate that you want to repair?

Bring along your broken mug, plate, vase or anything ceramic and we will guide you on how to make it functional again! You with gain hands-on knowledge of ceramic repair and you will have the option of repairing your ceramic item in an invisible or visible way.

Our visible repair practice is inspired by the Japanese practice of Kintsugi which translates roughly "to patch with gold" - it's the art of repairing broken porcelain with golden glue. The philosophy behind this visible repair is that the break becomes part of the story of the object and therefore a part of the beauty. Why throw away your plate when you can highlight the cracks and give it a new lease of life?

Important details - please read

• Suitable for ages 14 and up
• Please note repaired items will be extra fragile when you are transporting them home
• We will provide you with bubble wrap to cover them.
• If you would like to visit the main house and our exhibition - E.A.Hornel - From Glasgow to Japan, you should arrive at 1pm for a visit prior to the workshop taking place.

Parking

Please access Pollok Country Park at the Dumbreck Road entrance (next to the M77). All visitors to Pollok House should park in the Riverside car park which is situated on the right hand side as you approach the house. On arrival, please report to the welcome desk in the front entrance hall where you will be given a date-stamped free parking ticket to display for the duration of your visit to the house.
