Pathway to Children’s Nursing

The Pathway to Children's Nursing cohort consists of five blocks of study and two optional enrichment days enabling you to experience and consolidate your understanding of the 'well child'. 

As part of this cohort, you will have access to a wide range of learning activities and resources hosted on Ocean2Sky.uk.

• The well child
• Paediatric A+P and assessment
• Legal and ethical considerations in paediatric nursing
• CAMHS and disorders of development
• Communication and managing the deteriorating child

Please note, 80% attendance of the Join days is required for successful course completion along with completion of the assessment portfolio. The assessment portfolio consists of a 2000 word essay and a competency document.

The interactive portion will not take the full day but the attendee/learner will need the day to work through the ‘block’ of materials allocated to the time period.

Optional enrichment days

Enrichment days are encouraged but will need to be arranged locally.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for nurses registered on another branch of the NMC register (not child registered)and registered Nurse Assosciates who are working with paediatric patients. A mentor who is a registered children's nurse is required.
