What are the benefits of a Mindfulness Course?

This course offers the opportunity to learn mindfulness in a small group setting in Parliament Hill Fields. Pathways to Calm is based on Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) which was developed at the University of Oxford to prevent recurring depression and has been clinically found to improve psychological well-being and resilience. Mindfulness-based approaches are now used in the medical field to help treat a wide range of conditions including low mood, anxiety, stress, insomnia, chronic pain and illness. Mindfulness training is also being implemented in fields such as business, education, finance, sports and the arts to help improve concentration, focus, memory, creative thinking and performance issues.


When does the Course meet?

The course will run from September 19 to November 21. It will meet weekly (apart from a break in late October) on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm. Course dates are as follows:

September 19 (Orientation session)

September 26 (Week 1)

October 3 (Week 2)

October 10 (Week 3)

October 17 (Week 4)

October 24 (Week 5)

No class on October 31

November 7 (Week 6)

November 14 (Week 7)

November 21 (Week 8)

In addition, there will be a Retreat Day on Sunday, November 12 from 10am - 3pm.


What does in involve?

In order to gain full benefit from the course, attendance at all the classes is strongly advised. In addition, participants will be requested to devote up to 40 minutes per day to home practice. Attendance at the Retreat Day is also an integral part of the course and will enable participants to deepen their understanding and experience of mindfulness.


How much does it cost?

The cost for the course is £225. Concessions are available and anyone unable to pay the full fee is encouraged to contact the organiser.

The fee includes:

18 hours of instruction in mindfulness,

your own copy of The Mindful Way Handbook,

attendance at a retreat day in Week 6,

access to guided meditation recordings.


How do I enroll?

Please contact the organiser, Pamela Lawson, who will arrange a brief telephone assessment to discuss the course and how it might meet your needs. You will then be sent a registration form along with some preliminary information. Once registration is confirmed, you will be asked to pay the course fee in full.
