About this Event

Decarbonising the gas transported in our network infrastructure is essential to meeting the UK and Welsh Government’s respective Net Zero targets, and the ambitions of national governments, and regional and local authorities across Wales and the South West of England, many of whom have declared a climate emergency.

The report, delivered by leading global energy consultancy Navigant, is the first output from ENA's Gas Decarbonisation Pathways Project, a major industry initiative that is building on the world-leading work that the gas networks have been undertaking to use new technology to build a low cost, low carbon network.

The report addresses:

• How low carbon and renewable gases can contribute to a decarbonised 2050 energy system
• A pathway to achieve such a decarbonised 2050 energy system
• The near-term, 'low regret' actions along the decarbonisation pathway

The event will feature a presentation from Navigant, who have led the independent, academic-reviewed assessment of the Gas Decarbonisation Pathways and its impact.
