Come on a learning journey with us to see what opportunities there really are for outdoor careers across all rural sectors from recreation and adventure to environmental and land management, with this quality Career-Long Professional Learning course for teachers, educators, careers staff, and youth workers across Scotland.

Over a series of 1-hour sessions we introduce and explore what is meant by jobs in rural areas and employment over a variety of outdoor industries. Giving teaching staff, guidance teachers and careers advisors the knowledge and hands on experience of the opportunities for young people across the rural sector to:
- Improve knowledge of career opportunities present now & in the future in rural areas
- Explore various pathways into work in rural sectors
- Be able to relate workplace skills to the classroom
Throughout the course duration we will be joined by external speakers at the heart of Scotland's rural workforce, who will provide invaluable industry-relevant rural careers information.
The CLPL course will take place on:
Session 1 - Monday 9th March 2026: 4.15 - 5.15pm Progression pathways for all (Online)
Session 2 - Monday 16th March 2026: 4.15-5.15pm Diversity of opportunity in rural work (Online)
Session 3 - Monday 23rd March 2026: 4.15pm-5.15pm The future of rural work (Online)
There will be in-person sessions hosted in various locations across Scotland to support this course and to experience rural careers first-hand at a location near you.

Progression Pathways for All
During this session we will look at how young people can access rural careers from university and college options, apprenticeships and "tickets". We'll look at what's on offer for young people at a variety of levels and help that's there to support them from funding to specific programmes like pre-apprenticeships.
