Celebrate Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health (FBMH)

About this event

Join us to celebrate the positive impact Public Contributors, staff and students make in Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health (FBMH).

This year’s celebration event titled ‘The Famous Five’ will look back on the last five years. Taking place online using Zoom, it will be hosted by Dr Stephanie Snow, Faculty lead for Community Engagement and Involvement and Kay Gallacher, Public Contributor and FBMH PPIE Forum Co-chair.

As well as looking back over the last five years, we will recognise the inspirational and outstanding commitment to PPIE that has made a positive difference, through the Faculty’s ‘Outstanding Contribution to PPIE’ awards 2021. Please join us to celebrate with our winners who will be announced live at the event.

This event is for Public Contributors, Public/Patient Representatives, staff and students with an interest in PPIE, and connected with the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.

What is a Public Contributor?

Public Contributors are members of the public who are actively involved and/or engaged with the Faculty’s research and/or teaching.

Who is the Celebration Event for?

This event is for Public Contributors, Public/Patient Representatives, staff and students with an interest in PPIE, and who are associated with FBMH.

What is the aim of the Celebration Event?

To celebrate the positive impact members of the public, staff and students make in PPIE in FBMH.

What is Zoom?

Zoom is an online communications software, similar to Skype, that can allow for large group meetings and events. For more information about Zoom, visit here.

Please note: you do not need to be a registered user on Zoom to access this meeting, however you may need to ensure that your Zoom app is up to date. The Zoom link will be sent to registered attendees via email prior to the event.

How can I join the meeting?

To join this event please register on this Eventbrite page, you will then be sent a link a few days before the event to the Zoom meeting.

Please do not share this link or password with anyone else. This Celebration Event is only for staff, students and Public Contributors affiliated with FBMH and PPIE.

Please note: In order to be given access to the event on the day you will need to have your name displayed on entry to the Zoom meeting to identify you on our registration list. If you are booking for more than one person please list their name also when booking.

What is the Zoom etiquette for the Celebration Event?

Please join the meeting with your microphones turned off and please keep them off until it is time for the group discussion.

Do not share the link to the meeting and the password with anyone who has not registered themselves to attend.

The Celebration Event will be recorded and later distributed on our communication platforms (Twitter, YouTube etc). By registering to attend this event you are giving permission for the recording. Please note: the group discussion times will not be recorded. If you would not like your face to appear in the recording, please keep your camera switched off. We will do our best to show the speakers only. You can also change your Zoom display name in your user settings after you have joined the meeting. Please see a guide on how to do this here:

As this event will be hosted and recorded on Zoom your personal data will be processed by Zoom. This may mean that your personal data is transferred to a country outside of the European Economic Area, some of which have not yet been determined by the European Commission to have an adequate level of data protection. Appropriate legal mechanisms to ensure these transfers are compliant with the UK General Data Protection Regulation are in place. The recordings will be removed from Zoom and stored on The University of Manchester’s managed file storage as soon as possible following the event.
