Event description

Description

Patients and other lay people have a vital role in educating tomorrow's doctors. The GMC recognises that patients have a right to influcence the attributes possessed by newly qualified doctors. To this end, the GMC suggests that patients should be involved at all stages of medical education, from selection of medical students to curriculum design, teaching and assessment, right through to quality assurance and governance.

Is this a realistic aspiration? How can patients and clinical educators work together effectively within the inevitable budgetary and time constraints? What are the theoretical and practical limits on patient and public involvement?

Come and share perspectives and ideas with medical teachers and students, patients and other service users. Find out what is happening in the medical school right now, and what resources are available to support further development. This meeting is open to doctors and lay people, educators and students.

The meeting runs from 1:45 – 5:30 and is followed by free drinks and nibbles.

Tickets are free. All delegates need to register in advance so we can plan seating and catering requirements. If you book and find that you cannot go, please let us know so that we can offer your place to someone else.
