Patient Information Day- Liverpool
Event Information
Description
The Patient Information Day (PID) was a one-day event organised by the society to provide information to people affected by haemochromatosis and their families.
The patient information days attract patients, family members, and others with an interest in the condition. The PIDs are an opportunity for patients to hear from renowned medical and other speakers, take part in wide-ranging question-and-answer sessions, and to meet and talk to others who are affected by GH.
We begin with a presentation from a Consultant Haematologist or a Consultant Gastroenterologist who is an expert in Haemochromatosis. The purpose of this talk is to give an overview of the condition and the science behind the symptoms. We then have a presentation on haemochromatosis and diet from a Clinical Specialist Dietitian. A break for lunch gives patients and healthcare professionals a change to network. The afternoon begins with our third speaker, who talks on the subject of pain management and living with a lifelong condition. This talk is given by a health psychologist or pain specialist. Lastly the event is brought to a close with a presentation from our Chief Executive about the work of the society and the advances in patient care we are working towards.
More details will be added as the speakers are finalised
