You are warmly invited to attend an online launch and discussion about research into patient experiences of the Covid-19 pandemic. The research explored four dimensions of patient and family experience:

Variation - Exploring diverse experiences of COVID-19, with a particular focus on minoritised groups (funded by ESRC)
Severity - Exploring experiences of COVID-19 patients (and their families) who were treated in ICU (funded by THIS)
Duration - Exploring experiences of Long Covid in adults (funded by CSO, Scotland)
Family dynamics – Exploring experiences of Long Covid in children, young people and their families (funded by NIHR)

These projects were conducted in 2020-22 by teams from the universities of Oxford, Edinburgh, Stirling, Aberdeen, Cambridge and the Open University. In all, we conducted in-depth, narrative interviews with 225 people, aged from 10 years to 77 years. Interviews were wide ranging, covering everything from first hearing about Covid and trying to make sense of events through to experiences of illness, seeking healthcare, caring and impact on school, work, relationships and finances. Each study has been published as a public website on Healthtalk.org, illustrated with hundreds of video and audio extracts from the interviews.

Please join us on 15th March to launch the collections, hear from discussants Professor Nisreen Alwan (University of Southampton), Nurse Consultant Melanie Gager (Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust) and Professor Christina Pagel (University College London) and consider further uses of the research for public information and support, teaching and service improvement.
