Description

Dr. Giorgos Patoulis is President of G.G.D.I. and President of the International Health Tourism Center (IHTC), while also heading the Hellenic Medical Tourism Council. Additionally, Dr. Patoulis holds multiple administrative positions: he is President of the Athens Medical Association, President of Greece's Union of Municipalities and Mayor of Amarousion.

Dr. Patoulis is a healthcare practicioner and an ambassador of medical tourism in Greece, as well as being active internationally. He is a trained and practicing orthopaedic surgeon with published scientific work and a long track record in activism and philanthropy. Over the years, he has built a passion for medical tourism as a sector which has the potential to play a crucial role in the Greek economy.

Dr. Patoulis had a succesful career in professional unions and local politics, before becoming an expert in medical tourism and entering the international scene with IHTC. Born in 1961, he holds a degree in Medicine from the University of Athens and a degree in Health Economics from the National School of Public Health in Greece.

Dr. Patoulis will be joined by Dr. Konstantinos Pantos, who is a leader in the Greek medical tourism sector in his own way. Dr. Pantos holds a PhD in Gynaecology and is owner/director of a world-renowned IVF clinic, 'Genesis Athens', which attracts patients from all across Europe. Together with Dr. Patoulis, he is active both nationally and internationally - holding the position of Vice President of G.G.D.I. and Vice President of the IHTC.

Topic of the event will be the policies and initiatives to be undertaken to further develop the medical tourism sector in Greece. Dr. Patoulis and Dr. Pantos will aim to highlight the scientific comparative advantage of parts of the Greek healthcare sector, the role of finance in the development of an ethical business, such as an IVF clinic, and the ability of healthcare to turn into an export-oriented sector for Greece.

The event will be made up of two talks, one introductory speech in English and one keynote speech in Greek, followed by a 15-minute interactive Q&A session (with the help of a translator).
