About this event

Business • Finance

The period between 2008 and 2010 saw the remarkable collapse of what had been dubbed the Celtic Tiger economy - Ireland's banks, deeply exposed to the winds that caused the global financial crisis, faced pressures the eventually enveloped the entire state. Patrick Honohan was appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland in 2009, taking on the task of helping steer the country's financial sector through the crisis. We're delighted to welcome Patrick to the Library of Mistakes to help shine a light on what happened back then and whether the lessons have been learned both in Ireland and internationally.
