Event description

Description

Join us at The Red Lodge Museum to discover how Christmas was celebrated 400 years ago.

In the Great Oak Room, which will be decorated as it might have been for Christmas in Tudor times, Decorative Arts Curator Helen Brown will talk about the food and festivities that would have been available at the Red Lodge, built to be a party venue.

The Lodge was built in 1580 as a Lodge for banqueting and entertainment for the Great House (on the site of what is now Colston Hall). Helen will also take you on a brief tour of the rest of the house, to give you a sense of the Red Lodge’s extraordinarily varied history.

PLEASE NOTE: the entrance to the Red Lodge Museum is on Lodge Street, through the Red Lodge garden.
