Patronage in Music and Arts. From Thomas Howard to Napoleon.


On Friday, 30 June 2017 distinguished pianist Tomasz Lis will present the sixth concert in the series of Music At Unique Venues.

The lecture recital shall take place at the Lauderdale House build in 1582 with a timber frame during the reign of Elisabeth I. In 1645 the house was inherited by Earl of Lauderdale and visited by such notable people like Charles II, Samuel Pepys and Nell Gwyn. During the evening Tomasz will give a concert as well as discuss the subject of patronage in music and arts illustrated with paintings by van Dyck, Raphael, Rubens, de Champaigne, Canaletto and Ingres.

Wine will be served during the interval and the audience will have exclusive access to the house and its surrounding gardens.
