Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Do you have a favourite garment that not only looks fab, fits you to perfection -and you wish you had another?

Great news - this day long class is perfect for you!

You will learn how to make patterns from existing clothes, which you bring along with you. You will need to bring along a selection of at least three garments, working with your tutors you will make a pattern for at least one of these.

You will be taught in a gorgeous womanswear design studio in Belfast, with MaryRose, the studio owner and guest lecturer Lorraine Cunningham.

What will I learn?

* How to measure and trace the garment shapes.
* How to add seam and hem allowances.
* How to mark your pattern with notches, key information and grain lines.
* How to write step by step instructions to allow you to construct the garment.

The course includes:

* Use of specialised measuring tools and equipment.
* Pattern paper.
* Pencils, pens and note pads.
* Tea, coffee and lots of sweet treats to enjoy during our busy day!

What do I need to bring with me?

* The garments you would like to copy! Nothing too complicated please, as we have a limited timeframe and we suggest you bring a selection to choose from.
* Bring a camera to record each step of the process.

Who is the course suitable for?

You need to be confident at sewing and working with existing patterns, this class is NOT for beginners.

This fantastic day is quite intensive, as we have so much to teach you! Therefore - you will get more out of the course if you have experience of working with existing patterns and making simple adjustments to them.

How much is the course?

The 6 hour course is £95.

Only 6 students in this class, (plus two lecturers) means loads of teacher/pupil attention - we keep classes small to ensure everyone has a great learning experience.

How is the day planned?

Morning class 10-1pm

Lunch 1-2pm

Afternoon class 2-5pm

We start at 10am on Sunday morning, and work through till lunchtime at 1pm. Everyone will be ready for a lovely lunch and so we close the studio till 2pm, giving students an hour to relax and chat over lunch. Classes are not only educational and fun, they are a great way to make new friends!

The studio is only a few minutes from Belfast, so there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.

The afternoon session is from 2-5pm. We provide tea, coffee and lots of cakes and biscuits throughout the day too, and take a small break in each class session - we don't stop for too long though, as there are so many things to learn!

Can I advance onto another course afterwards?

Of course!

We will be holding a variety of pattern cutting masterclasses in the studio, from starter pattern cutting to advanced professional classes.

Any other important stuff I should know before booking?

* This course is not for beginners. It is the pupils responsibility to ensure they are at the level required to attend this class.

* Late arrivals disrupt teaching and all other students and we can't recap for anyone who arrives 5 minutes late or more. Please be prompt! We do not accept students in class who arrive 15 minutes late or more, we start at 10 sharp and take a lunchbreak at 1pm.

* The class is for adults age 18+.

* Cancellations: Please ensure you can definitely attend class before booking and paying. We understand things crop up, so you can always send someone else in your place. Just let us know they will be attending in your place 24 hours in advance of class.

Can I call the studio for more info if I have any questions?
