Workshop Details

In this workshop, you will learn about painting and mono printing onto textiles. Exploring a range of materials from commercial textile mediums to DIY textile pastes made with seaweed. Working with cotton, we will learn about ways of finishing the fabric so it can be used in a product you may go on to make later.

We will start by exploring pattern making through mark making and play with simple approaches to repeat patterns. Inspired by Jacqueline Groag, Althea McNish & Sonia Delaunay we will explore textile image-making that does not require screens or complex equipment.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience who would like to know more about this fascinating approach to textile making. You can expect to leave with some fabric that you have designed and created and, enough to make an accessory such as a cushion, bag, patch etc. Equally, it may be a piece suitable for framing.
