Paul Richards: Inadequate Man // Gigs in the Gallery, The Art House, Sat 2...
Event Information
Description
Fresh from the huge success of his 2014 tour show, Getting Lost in My Hometown, Cambridge based storytelling comedian Paul Richards is back with his most...awkward show to date: Inadequate Man.
Inadequate Man tells the gentle story of a 33-year-old man who is desperate to get on with people only to accidentally cause 'misunderstandings', a man who is desperate to create a whole new genre of 'entertainment', a man who has been described, quite a few times now, as being 'a cross between Dave Gorman and Rigsby from Rising Damp.'
Primarily a comedy writer, Paul’s work has been performed across all over the world, including eleven different productions at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. His work is frequently published in both the UK and Canada.
A sitcom written by (and starring) Paul, And Then Things Got Complicated for Emily & Michael, launched online in early 2014 and was also screened in Michigan, US. The second series was launched in the summer of 2014 and a feature length festive film, Christmas With Emily & Michael, will be released in December 2014.
“Sweet, grounded and self-deprecating…Paul delivers his stories with a genuine honesty that is immediately endearing.” – Heckler magazine
Inadequate Man, destined for a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe, is a solo comedy play; an hour long-piece, fusing theatre and comedy, which will be Paul's twelfth Fringe production. A one-man comedy play about shepherd's pie, shocking third dates (the first and second are always great) and seeing the good in absolutely everything.
Will definitely feature a small drum and some letters to his former house mate who still hasn't given him back his deposit, not that he's bitter or anything. May or may not contain the grand première of Ronnie Rosenthal: The Musical.

Accessibility info:-
Events are generally suitable for adults, young people and older children - children must be accompanied by an adult at all times, however. Young children are also welcome to come along but be aware some poems and songs may contain adult content (although we try to keep these until after children have left!)
Most events are held on our first floor, accessible by a wide staircase with a sturdy banner. Comformatable seating is provided. We regret that, due to space and other constraints, we are generally unable to relocate our events to the ground floor for those who require ground level access - so sorry.

This is Bik, one of our founding directors, on a rare break in the sunshine outside the Art House (you can just see in the distance the site of what is to be Southampton's new Arts Centre come Oct 2015.) Bik organises most of our special events, publices them, and can be found behind the sound desk on most nights or scurrying around, rounding up band members!
