Payback Mentality or Peace of Mind: Beyond Retaliation

Our October guest has explored many aspects of psychospiritual development with integrative mastery. He draws on Christian and Buddhist teachings, Jungian psychology, wisdom traditions, and years of therapeutic expertise, applying psychological and spiritual principles to ground level human challenges. In this episode of Soul Portals, we get to know more about David Richo’s own journey and take a close look at the subject of his upcoming book: alternatives to retaliation in personal relationships. The dynamics of a ‘tit-for-tat’ attitude are offset by the kind of self-awareness and skillful means it takes to practice emotionally nonviolent ways of handling disputes, offenses, and personal hurts.

Cedric M. Speyer, M.A., M.Ed., RP, is an author, Registered Psychotherapist, and presently a mentor to coaches, counsellors, and therapists. He pioneered E-counselling in Canada, overseeing 100K online cases before establishing InnerView Guidance International (IGI). The vision of IGI brings together the historically separate domains of mental health and spiritual awareness in a new synthesis for the helping professions.

DeeAnna Merz Nagel

DeeAnna Merz Nagel, D.Th., LPC, LMHC, BCC, is a licensed psychotherapist and board-certified coach. DeeAnna teaches the ethical integration of alternative and psychospiritual approaches for coaches and therapists. She holds several certifications in the healing arts including Reiki and aromatherapy. DeeAnna’s doctoral studies focused on multifaith spiritual direction.

David Richo

David Richo, Ph.D., is a psychotherapist, writer, and workshop leader. He teaches at a variety of places including Esalen and Spirit Rock Buddhist Center. He shares his time between Santa Barbara and San Francisco, California. Dave combines psychological and spiritual perspectives in his work. He is the author of 20 books.
